During National Volunteer Week, and on Earth Day, COTS celebrates our residents who volunteer in the Fox Valley community. As part of their programming, residents re-enter the community through volunteering partnerships. One such partnership is with Riverview Gardens.

COTS and Riverview Gardens work closely together to connect our residents to meaningful volunteer work on the Riverview Gardens Urban Farm, a certified organic farm operating on the 72-acre property in central Appleton. Residents’ recent volunteer activity supports early spring growing in the 20 hoop houses, including watering and transplanting seedlings.

Like all of us who give back to our community through volunteering, COTS residents have a greater impact. This year, Riverview Gardens will grow 35,000 pounds of organic, local produce for Feeding America – Eastern Wisconsin. All this growing is powered by the dedicated Farm staff and volunteers.

Even as our residents strive to better their circumstances at COTS, they actively contribute back to the Fox Valley community: growing and giving in tandem.
