COTS held an update to thank donors for their contributions to our Campus of Change campaign that began last year and is putting in place the final updates and repairs. The extent of the makeover is incalculable. Almost every room got a new coat of paint, the women’s facility kitchen was completely remodeled, furniture was replaced, modern lighting and fixtures were added, and more. The meaning of these changes goes far beyond any sort of physical or monetary value.
Most telling is language now used. A year ago the daily vocabulary included leaking, running, not working, needs to be repaired/replaced, etc. Today our vocabulary is securing and moving forward. We simply could not have done the needed work without each of you.
Everyday over 60 people live in the COTS community. These residents come from many different places and histories. What they all share in common is their desire to make a positive and lasting change in their lives and leave homelessness in the past. After the Campus of Change and through the gestures of you, our donors and volunteers, our buildings show our residents that they are valued members of our community and are welcome home.
